
Volleyball Announces 2026 Signing Class

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball head coach Kristen Kelsay announced the signing of three student-athletes – Madi Andrews, Colbie McKenna and Alana Whitfield – to the Spartans' 2026 roster on National Signing Day.
"I'm thrilled to add Madi, Colbie and Alana to our Spartan Volleyball family," said Kelsay. "The character and skill of these young women will contribute immediately to our current roster and the foundation we are building for Michigan State Volleyball."
Andrews, a 6-1 outside hitter from Happy Valley, Oregon, plays club volleyball for coaches Jarrod Ferguson and Jennifer Whinholt, Lena and Alex Chan, Charley Stanton and Nir Ofer at Athena Volleyball Academy in Portland, Oregon. She is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the state of Oregon in the 2026 class by Prep Dig.

"Madi has an elite arm that will make an immediate impact in our gym," said Kelsay. "Her competitiveness shines through in all that she does. We can't wait for her to join us this spring."
Andrews played on Athena Volleyball's 18 Gold National Team at the 2025 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship, where she helped Athena to a second-place finish in the Liberty Division and was named to the Liberty Division All-Tournament team.
She attends Adrienne C. Nelson High School in Happy Valley, where she led Oregon 6A State Tournament appearances every season, including three third-place finishes (2022-24) and a fourth-place finish in 2025. A decorated prep athlete, Andrews is a three-time Oregon All-State honoree, earning first team honors last season while being named to the second team in 2023 and an honorable mention honoree in 2022. She was also named to the Oregon 6A State All-Tournament team in each high school season and is a four-time First Team Mt. Hood Conference All-League selection. Andrews is a three-time Oregon 6A Academic All-State honoree and was nominated for the Oregonian/OregonLive Volleyball Player of the Year Award in 2023 and 2024.
McKenna, a 6-2 outside hitter, hails from York, Pennsylvania and plays club volleyball for East Coast Power Volleyball Club under Dennis Hohenshelt in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

"We are so thrilled to add Colbie to the Spartan Volleyball family," said Kelsay. "Colbie's work ethic and tremendous skill set will add instant value to our gym. I'm so excited she's joining us in January."
McKenna was named to the AVCA Phenom and Under Armour Next Watch Lists during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. She played four seasons of high school volleyball at York Suburban Senior High School in York and is the reigning three-time York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association Division II Player of the Year. McKenna is a three-time Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State honoree and earned All-District honors in each high school season, including First Team honors from 2023 to 2025 and Second Team honors as a freshman in 2022. She reached 1,000 high school career kills this season.
Whitfield is a 6-0 defensive specialist and libero from Normal, Illinois, and plays for coach Michelle Erins at Illini Elite Volleyball Club in Bloomington, Illinois.

"Alana's volleyball IQ and versatility will bring us depth, no matter what position she plays or where she finds herself on the court," said Kelsay. "Thrilled for Alana to round out the skill and competitive nature of our 2026 class."
Whitfield was most recently named an All-American in the 17 Open Division at the 17 Open Division at the 2025 AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships. She played four seasons of high school volleyball at Normal Community High School in Bloomington, where she was a two-time Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association All-State honoree, earning honorable mention honors in 2023 and Second Team honors in 2024. Whitfield also earned Big 12 Conference First Team accolades from the Illinois High School Association in 2023 and 2024 and was recognized as the ISHSA Big 12 Scholar Athlete during both of those seasons.
In 2024, Whitfield won Normal Community's Volleyball MVP Award. She helped lead Normal Community to the IHSA Class 4A Regional Championship as a freshman in 2022.
