No. 14 Michigan State Visits Colorado Sunday

BOULDER, Colo. -Â No. 14 Michigan State women's soccer wraps up its Rocky Mountain road trip at Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. ET/noon MT at Colorado's Prentup Field.

FIRST TOUCH
The Spartans enter Sunday's match at 3-0-0 after a dominant 7-0 win at Northern Colorado on Thursday, Aug. 24. Junior forward Jordyn Wickes' hat trick in seven minutes and 19 seconds of elapsed game time in the second half highlighted the offensive performance for the Spartans. Senior forward Ranya Senhaji recorded a brace with a pair of goals in the 20th minute while making her first start at MSU, while Zivana Labovic and Emerson Sargeant also added goals for the Green & White. The Buffaloes are led by 12th-year head coach Danny Sanchez, who holds a 122-77-31 record in his time in Boulder. CU (2-1-0) most recently earned a 2-0 victory over Colorado College at on Thursday, Aug. 24 after dropping a 1-0 contest to Marquette in Boulder on Aug. 20. The Buffs opened their season with a 3-0 win over Northern Colorado earlier this month.
The Buffs are led by senior forward Shyra James, who has scored one goal this season and returns as CU's second-leading scorer from 2022 with 23 points (11 g, 1 a). Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Nytes, a transfer from Oklahoma State, was ranked at No. 44 in the TopDrawerSoccer Top-100 Preseason player rankings. She was named Co-Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year as a freshman at OSU in 2022.
STORY OF THE SERIES
Sunday's match will be the fourth all-time between the Spartans and Buffaloes. MSU holds a 2-1-0 edge in the series, most recently defeating then-No. 19 CU last season on Sep. 11, 2022, 4-2. Current senior forward MJ Andrus scored a goal in the Spartan win last season in addition to a hat trick from then-graduate student Camryn Evans. At the time, MSU's win over CU marked its first win over a ranked opponent since 2016. The Spartans are 1-0-0 against the Buffaloes on the road, earning a 2-1 overtime win at Prentup Field on Sep. 1, 2016.
