Additional Spartan Selected To Summer League All-Star Game

Powers playing in Northwoods contest Tuesday night; fourth Spartan to earn Summer League All-Star accolades.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- An additional Michigan State baseball player will be playing in their respective Summer League All-Star game.
Nick Powers will be representing the host Traverse City Pit Spitters in the Northwoods League Great Lakes All-Star Game Tuesday night.
The Northwoods League Great Lakes All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:05 p.m. ET at Turtle Creek Stadium in Traverse City, Michigan. The game will air on ESPNU with longtime Lakeshore Chinooks broadcaster Matt Menzl and former Los Angeles Dodgers GM Dan Evans with the call.
Powers currently leads the Pit Spitters pitching staff and ranks second in the Northwoods League with a 2.13 ERA, also topping the team with 36 strikeouts. He has posted a 3-2 record in 42.1 IP, yielding just 10 walks.
A total of four Spartans have now made Summer League All-Star teams, as Powers joined Sam Thompson and Robert Klann, who represented the Michigan Monarchs for the North Division All-Stars in the Great Lakes League All-Star game last week. Randy Seymour represented the Northwest Indiana Oilmen for the West All-Stars in the Northern League All-Star Game also last week.
