Men's Swimmers Head to Columbus for B1G Championships

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State's men's swimmers get their turn this week as Ohio State hosts the men's Big Ten Swimming Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Â
MSU is bringing 21 men to the swimming championships this season. Â Six are freshmen who will be experiencing their first Big Ten Championships, while Aidan Farley, Phillip Meffert, Guy Moskovitch, Josh Pascua, Charlie Ryan, and Lucas Smiarowski are the Spartan seniors who will help lead the way this week.Â
The women and the divers competed last week in Minneapolis, Minn. and West Lafayette, Ind. The Spartan women finished 11th overall with 217 points, with seniors Erin Szara and diver Amanda Ling each earning top-10 individual finishes.  Taylor Arnold was the team's Sportsmanship Award winner. Â
Junior Jakob Heberling and freshman Cyrus Irwin both competed last weekend as Purdue hosted both the men's and women's diving championships. Heberling finished 25th in the 1M diving prelims and then scored a 259.50 in the preliminaries of the men's 3M. Cyrus Irwin was 33rd in the prelims at his first-ever Big Ten Championships, scoring a 213.20.Â
