Women's Swimming, Diving Compete at B1G Championships This Week

Michigan State's women's swimming program as well as the men's and women's divers will all be in action this week at the Big Ten Championships.

To address Covid-19 protocols, the swimming and diving championships will be held on different campuses. The swimming championships will be held in Minneapolis at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, running from February 23-27. Meanwhile, the men's and women's divers will assemble this week in West Lafayette, Indiana at Purdue University for the Big Ten Diving Championships which run Feb. 24-27.Â

MSU is bringing 25 women to the swimming championships this season.  Nine are freshmen who will be experiencing their first Big Ten Championships, while six swimmers (Taylor Arnold, Olivia Chick, Taylor Contino, Marie Dickson, Abbey Neveling, and Erin Szara) and one diver (Amanda Ling) are seniors that will lend experience to their squads.  In addition to Ling, Jakob Heberling will compete for the Spartan men in both 1- and 3-meter diving, while freshman Cyrus Irwin will compete in the 1M. Â
