Spartans Tied for 10th Heading into Final Round of NCAA Pullman Regional

PULLMAN, Washington – The Michigan State men's golf team stands in a tie for 10th place after two rounds of play in the NCAA Pullman Regional. The Spartans shot a 3-over-par 283 in Tuesday's second round at Palouse Ridge Golf Club and are 4-under-par 556 (273-283) overall. MSU will head into Wednesday's final round eight shots out of fifth place.

Texas A&M (23-under-par 537), the region's No. 4 seed, remains atop the leaderboard. Oklahoma (20-under-par 540), Georgia Tech (19-under-par 541), BYU (17-under-par 543) and Colorado State (12-under-par 548) round out the current top five. The top five teams and the top individual not from one of the five qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA finals, May 24-29.
Senior Donnie Trosper carded his second straight round under par, turning in a 1-under-par 69 on Tuesday. Trosper, like the rest of the Spartans, started his day on the 10th tee and was even at the turn. He sandwiched birdies around a bogey on the back nine and is tied for 9th place at 6-under-par 134 (65-69).
Trosper is just four shots back of the leader, Blaine Hale of Oklahoma, who is 10-under-par 130 (68-62).
Andrew Walker and James Piot are both tied for 40th place at 1-over-par 141.
Piot ended the opening round with nine straight pars, and in Tuesday's second round, the sophomore continued his steadiness. Piot had 14 pars, two birdies and two bogeys to finish at an even-par 70 to put him 1-over-par 141 (71-70).
Walker had a steady start to his round, beginning with nine consecutive pars. He was 1-over-par after the turn to finish at 1-over-par 71.
Troy Taylor II turned in a 3-over-par 73 and is tied for 49th place at 2-over-par 142 (69-73).
Kaleb Johnson shot a 5-over-par 75. He was 4-over-par through nine, but cut three stokes in the second half of his round. He's 4-over-par 144 (69-75) and in 56th place.
The Spartans will tee off from the 10th hole between 11:55 a.m. – 12:39 p.m. ET in Wednesday's final round.
