FLOURTOWN, Pennsylvania – After two rounds of play at the Big Ten Championships, the Michigan State men's golf team is tied for fourth place, while senior Donnie Trosper leads all players individually. The Spartans shot 24-over-par 304 on Saturday at the Philadelphia Cricket Club Wissahickon Course. For the tournament, MSU is 35-over-par 595 (291-304) and just five shots back of co-leaders Illinois and Minnesota, who are both 30-over-par 590.

High winds with gusts up to 35 miles-per-hour provided tough conditions for Saturday's round.

"It was among the hardest days I've ever seen in college golf," MSU head coach Casey Lubahn said. "There were stretches where played well, and then stretches when we struggled. But, we've given ourselves a chance going into tomorrow."

Trosper started his day with a bogey on the first hole, but got back to even two holes later with a birdie, and then strung together eight consecutive pars. A double-bogey on the par-4 11th hole pushed him to 2-over, but he closed with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to card an even-par 70. His even-par 70 was the lowest round of any player on Sunday.

"Donnie's round today was probably the best round I've ever seen on college golf," Lubahn said.

Going into Sunday's final round, Trosper, who is even-par 140 for the tournament, leads Minnesota's Angus Flanagan by two shots. There are six players in the field that are 4-over-par or better.

James Piot is tied for 14th place at 9-over-par 149 (74-75). Piot shot a 5-over-par 75 on Saturday.

Troy Taylor II is tied for 39th place at 14-over-par 154 (71-83).

Kaleb Johnson shot a 10-over-par 80 on Saturday and is tied for 48th place at 16-over-par 156.

Zach Rosendale moved into the lineup on Saturday and shot a 9-over-par 79.

The Spartans will tee off on hole No. 1 between 8:40 and 9:16 a.m. on Sunday.
