Eveland launches her second homer of the season
SPARTAN SYNOPSIS
Michigan State dropped a tough 3-2 decision to No. 19 Auburn on Saturday at the War Eagle Classic.
An RBI single by Ebonee Echols in the third inning and a solo homer by Kaitlyn Eveland an inning later allowed the Spartans to battle back from a 2-0 deficit. Michigan State starting pitcher Jordan Watson was the hard-luck loser, tossing four complete innings and surrendering both Veach homers. McKenna Gregory tossed two innings of one-hit relief, including working out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Spartans fall to 6-15 on the year.
Kendall Veach hit a pair of solo homers for Auburn (21-4), her second blast giving the home team back a lead at 3-2. Chardonnay Harris limited the Spartans to four hits and struck out 11 in the game. The Tigers had just six hits on the day, including a double for Alyssa Rivera.
The Spartans play the back end of a doubleheader at 7 pm against Mercer to wrap up the War Eagle Classic.
