Both the men's and women's 4000m DMR teams won at the Music City Challenge Friday.
Michigan State track & field split up to compete at two meets with strong fields Friday evening at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee and the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
GVSU Big Meet - Allendale, Michigan
Morgan Beadlescomb continued his strong indoor season, turning in a personal record time of 8:02.34 to finish second in the men's 3,000-meters. Beadlescomb finished just over a second behind Zach Panning of Grand Valley State, who took the victory in 8:01:12.
The Spartans took three of the top five spots in the women's 3,000-meters, finishing first, second and fifth. Annie Fuller took home the easy win, breaking the tape in 9:21.30 for a new personal record. Fuller's time is the 21st-best time in the country so far this year. Teammate Mackenzie Weiler crossed the line second, with a new personal record of 9:36.58. Jenna Magness was the third Spartan in the top five, finishing fifth in 9:40.73.
"I felt from a competitive standpoint, we were able to get out of this meet what we had intended," MSU assistant coach Aaron Simoneau said. "For some of our younger athletes, it was a great opportunity to prove themselves before the conference meet and continue to progress in their event. I thought many of them rose to the occasion with some breakout performances and that we saw some good growth across the entire group."
