No. 3 Michigan State Plays at No. 12 Seton Hall on Thursday Night

East Lansing, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked Michigan State men's basketball team plays its second ranked opponent of the season on Thursday, Nov. 14, visiting No. 12 Seton Hall at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The matchup between the Spartans and the Pirates is part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, matching up members of the Big Ten and the Big East Conferences.
MSU is coming off a 100-47 win over Binghamton in its home opener at the Breslin Center on Sunday. Senior guard Cassius Winston had a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists to lead five players in double figures in the win.
The game tips off at 8:45 p.m. and will air live on FS1, with Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery calling all of the action. The Spartan Sports Network radio call can be heard on one of 38 affiliates and on the web at SpartanSportsNetwork.com, with Will Tieman handling the play-by-play and Matt Steigenga serving as the color analyst. The game can also be heard on Sirius, XM and Internet 84.

Michigan State Tops Binghamton, 100-47, on Emotional Night
- Senior guard Cassius Winston had a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists and five players scored in double figures as the No.1-ranked Spartans beat Binghamton, 100-47.
- Winston started and played 25 minutes on the day after his younger brother, Zachary, a sophomore basketball player at nearby Albion College, passed away.
- Junior forward Xavier Tillman scored 17 points and had eight rebounds, while sophomore forward Aaron Henry scored 16 points and blocked three shots, sophomore forward Marcus Bingham Jr. added 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks and sophomore forward Thomas Kithier finished with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.
- Michigan State returns three starters from last year's team, which finished with a 32-7 overall record and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament for a nation's-best eighth time in the last 21 years.
- The Spartans won a share of the Big Ten Regular Season title, captured the Big Ten Tournament title, beat rival Michigan three times and won the NCAA Tournament East Regional with a thrilling victory over No. 1 seed Duke.
- The Spartans return seven rotational players from last season, led by senior guard Cassius Winston and forwards Aaron Henry and Xavier Tillman.
- Winston, the 2019 Big Ten Player of the Year, finished first on the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game and led the team in assists with 7.5 for the 2018-19 season … Winston led the Big Ten, and was No. 3 in the country, in assists per game ... - Winston was joined by Tillman on the Preseason All-B1G team.
- Tillman, who was named the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year last season, was also one of 20 players selected to the preseason watch list for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year award.
- Tillman finished second on the team in rebounds with 7.3 rebounds per game and was fourth on the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game.
- Michigan State's game against Seton Hall marks its first appearance in the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
- The Gavitt Tipoff Games are an annual early-season series of eight games played between the Big Ten and BIG EAST Conferences and named in honor of BIG EAST founder and basketball visionary Dave Gavitt.
- The Gavitt Tipoff Games, this year in the fifth season, runs from Monday, Nov. 11, through Thursday, Nov. 15 ... - Senior guard Cassius Winston has earned a slew of preseason awards entering the 2019-20 season.
- Winston was selected as a Preseason First Team All-American by the Associated Press and was also tabbed a Preseason First Team All-American by the Sporting News.
- He was also named the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year, was one of three unanimous selections to the All-Big Ten Team and was selected to the watch list for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.
- Michigan State and Seton Hall will play for the fourth time in program history when the teams meet on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Prudential Center.
- MSU leads the head-to-head series, 3-0.
- The teams last played on Dec. 22, 2001, a 68-64 MSU win at the Breslin Center. The Spartans won at Seton Hall, 72-57, on Dec. 19, 2000 at the Meadowlands in the Jimmy V Classic.
- Seton Hall enters Thursday night's game with a 2-0 overall record following wins against Wagner (105-71) and Stony Brook (74-57) to start the season.
