EAST LANSING -- The Spartan men's golf team will play its second tournament in a stretch of four consecutive weekends of competition as MSU will head to Wisconsin to take compete in the Marquette Intercollegiate, Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. Michigan State is appearing in the tournament at Erin Hills for the second straight year.

Sunday – 18 holes beginning at 10 a.m. ET

Groups will tee off based on the tournament leaderboard on No. 1 and No. 10 for the Monday and Tuesday rounds. No shotgun starts will be utilized.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY
This year marks the sixth annual Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills and MSU is making its third appearance (2013, 2017) in the tournament. Last year, the Spartans took fifth place (30-over-par 894) and were the top-placing Big Ten team in the 15-team field.

THE COURSE
Erin Hills was the site of the 117th U.S. Open, played in June 2017. The course will play at 7,869 yards – 128 yards longer than the layout for the U.S. Open. Golf Digest ranked Erin Hills as the 44th greatest course in the U.S.

The Spartans were runners-up at the Windon Memorial Classic, played Sept. 23-24, in Lake Forest, Illinois. In a back-and-forth final round, MSU wound up finishing two strokes behind Marquette. The Spartans had three players place in the top 12, including Donnie Trosper (71-69-74) and Andrew Walker (67-71-76) who tied for eighth place at 2-under-par 214. James Piot tied for 12th place at even-par 216 (73-70-73).

"Erin Hills is a special place and a championship golf course, to say the least. I think our guys are very excited about the opportunities ahead and they are all leaning in and committing to the plan we have put in place to have success there. We need to build off of our discipline and toughness from last week and keep embracing the chance to grow with every event."
