
Michael Sharp Earns Academic All-District Honors

EAST LANSING - Michigan State men's golf senior Michael Sharp has been voted to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced by the organization on Thursday, May 17.

Sharp, an actuarial science major, graduated this month with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. He was also the 2018 recipient of the President's Award, which goes to the graduating MSU senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
Sharp has been MSU's most consistent player in 2017-18 with more top-10 finishes (four) than any other Spartan. He ranked second on the team in scoring average at 72.76 and ended his career with a 73.95 average, which ranks sixth in program history.
The native of Kendallville, Indiana, had three top-10 finishes over a span of four tournaments, including: eighth at the Colleton River Collegiate (8-over-par 224); and sixth and both the Seahawk Intercollegiate (1-over-par 217) and Kepler Intercollegiate (1-over-par 214). Sharp's season best 54-hole mark of 4-under-par 212 at the Bearcat Invitational included his first of two season-best 67s.
He finished his career by tying for 24th at the NCAA Columbus Regional at 7-over-par 220.
As a First-team Academic All-District® honoree, Sharp advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
