Spartans Close Fall Schedule by Taking 12th at the Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, North Carolina -- The 28th-ranked Michigan State women's golf team played its last tournament of the fall this weekend, taking 12th place at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Spartans shot an 11-over-par 299 in Sunday's final round at the Country Club of Landfall and jumped three spots in the standings to finish 48-over-par 912 (315-298-299).
Golfstat
No. 5 Duke won the tournament at 15-over-par 879 with two of its players – Virginia Elena Carta and Gina Kim – tying for medalist honors at even-par 216.
Paz Marfa Sans and Yurika Tanida led MSU as both finished tied for 32nd place at 10-over-par 226.
Marfa Sans carded an even-par 72 for the second straight round on Sunday, which was the best score of the day by a Spartan.
Tanida sandwiched a pair of 4-over-par 76's in rounds one and three around a 2-over-par 74 in round two.
Allyson Geer-Park had 15 pars and turned in her her best round of the tournament on Sunday with a 1-over-par 73. She finished 13-over-par 229 (81-75-73) and tied for 46th place.
Valery Plata was 19-over-par 235 (78-77-80), while Haylin Harris was 20-over-par 236 (80-78-78).
The Spartans resume their 2018-19 schedule Feb. 3-5 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
