CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina -- The Michigan State women's golf team is tied for 10th place after two rounds of play at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. The No. 25 Spartans shot a 9-over-par 297 on Saturday at the UNC Finley Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and are 17-over-par 593 (296-297) for the tournament.
Golfstat
MSU is tied with host North Carolina, while Duke leads the tournament at 15-under-par 561 (271-290). Just two teams in the 18-team field shot under par on Saturday.
Rookie Valery Plata led MSU for the second straight round on Saturday with an even-par 72. Plata was even on both the front and back nine on Saturday and is tied for 15th overall at even-par 144 (72-72).
Paz Marfa Sans improved on her score by two shots as she also fired an even-par 72. Like Plata, she was even on both the front and back nine and ended her day with a birdie. Marfa Sans is tied for 25th place at 2-over-par 146 (74-72).
Haylin Harris birdied two of the final three holes and carded a 4-over-par 76. She's 9-over-par 153 (77-76) for the tournament and in 63rd place.
Allyson Geer-Park shot a 5-over-par 77 on Saturday and she's 7-over-par 151 (74-77) and in 56th place.
Yurika Tanida is 14-over-par 158 (76-82) for the tournament.
The Spartans will begin round three at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.
