
Swimming & Diving Fall At Purdue

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State swimming and diving team fell on the road at Big Ten rival Purdue on Friday. The men lost 188-105, while the women fell 177-105.
"It was a tough one, but it was good getting back to racing. Purdue's a really, really good team," head coach Matt Gianiodis said. "Racheal (Bukowski) swam well, she had a great meet. (Lachie) McLeish and Scott Piper swam great as well. We just have some work to do in the next couple of weeks."
Bukowski picked up two first-place finishes, one in the 50 free and the other in the 100 free. Her victory in the 100 free marks her sixth-consecutive win in the event.
Juniors Ana Sortland and Ellie Roche picked up third and fourth place in the 100 breast, respectively. In the 200 breast, Roche finished third, while Sortland finished fourth.
Sophomore Scott Piper won the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.95 and the 200 IM, clocking in at 1:54.80.
In the 200 back, Lachie McLeish clocked in at 1:50.65 and came up with a victory.
Senior Alex Trompke touched the pad at 49.72 in the 100 fly, picking up a win in the event.
Freshman Guy Moskovich finished second in the mile, clocking in at 16:08.24.
The Spartans return to action next Saturday, Jan. 20 at home for senior day against Oakland beginning at 1 p.m.
