EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team closed out the fall season this weekend at the Western Michigan Invite in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Spartans went 11-6 in singles play on the weekend, highlighted by Erin Faulkner's 3-0 performance, while Aslina Chua, Lexi Baylis, Davina Nguyen and Athena Trouillot all went 2-1.
"I am continuously impressed with this group of young women," said head coach Kim Bruno. "The team just keeps getting better and better and I think we have tremendous momentum heading into our spring season."
In doubles play, all three of MSU's pairings went 2-2 on the weekend, with the teams of Faulkner/Nguyen, Baylis/Chua and Memije/Trouillot.
Chua's 2-1 record in singles play means that the junior wraps up the fall with an impressive 9-2 record. Chua and her partner Lexi Baylis went 6-5 in doubles play this fall, while Faulkner and Nguyen also finished with five wins in doubles play on the season.
The Spartans return to action and begin the spring season at home against Eastern Michigan on Jan. 22.
