
Women's Swim & Dive Travel to Illinois

EAST LANSING, Mich. â€" The Michigan State women's swimming & diving program is set to travel to Champaign, Ill. on Friday, Oct. 21, for a Big Ten duel against Illinois.
With just one meet under MSU's belt, a handful of women swimmer and divers have shown promise to the program. Sophomore Courtney Aycock recorded a fifth place finish in the 200 and 400 freestyle in the Spartans home opener, and helped the 400 freestyle relay to a fourth place finish.
In her first debut as a Spartan, freshman Natalie Keshemberg clocked a 2:24.65 in the 200 meter butterfly, to nab a fourth place finish.
Junior Haley Kornburger as stepped up through the beginning of season leading the distance swimming events. She placed in three separate individual events, including fourth place finishes in both the 400 and 800 meter freestyle.
Michigan State also has a handful of divers who found themselves in the top ten of the opening meet. Sophomore Julie Oppedisano led the pack in the lone one meter diving event with a second place finish for 264.00 points. Senior Madeline Sewell was the second-best Spartan in the one meter dive, scoring a 250.95. Sophomore Morgan Wellenzohn and sophomore Heidi Surdyk also placed in the one meter dive at sixth and eighth, respectively.
