EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Oracle/ITA Men's Division I Preseason Doubles Rankings Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Michigan State junior Mac Roy and sophomore Michael Dube are tied for the 37th ranking.
Michigan State head coach Gene Orlando said that this accolade is only the start for the Spartan tennis program.
"It's a great start for our program, as well as Dube and Roy, to have a doubles team ranked in the top 40 in the country as of the preseason," Orlando said. "We are looking forward to a great fall season and hope to add a few more Spartans to the rankings in the spring."
The team is the second highest-ranked team of the Big Ten Conference in the ITA rankings, second only to Ohio State's incoming freshman Martin Joyce and redshirt junior Ralf Steinbach who possess the 19th ranking.
Orlando also returns senior John Patrick Mullane to his roster. The senior was named an ITA All-American with his former partner alumnus Harry Jadun in doubles, as they made Spartan history as the first All-American doubles pair in program history. The veteran will hope to repeat last year's success as he and Jadun made the NCAA Division I Men's tennis Doubles Champioships semifinals.
