MSU Competes At Hillsdale Gina Relays Friday

Hillsdale, Michigan - The Michigan State track & field teams were back in action at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays on Friday. Three Spartans recorded runner-up finishes on the day, while 11 other athletes finished in the top-10.
MSU had a pair of second-place finishes in the men's and women's pole vault competitions as junior Tim Canfield posted a mark of 5.08 meters, while sophomore Hannah Sailar cleared the bar at 3.98 meters. Freshman Allison Lunau also placed second in the women's 5000 meter race with a time of 16:32.23.
Freshman Morgan Johnson took third in the women's long jump open with a mark of 5.66 meters, followed by sophomore Cierra Pryor (5.50 meters) in sixth place.
Seniors Kassie Powell and Sarah Birkmeier tied for fourth in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.88 meters. Freshman Noah Gary (4.98 meters) and junior Jaime Salisbury (4.88 meters) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's pole vault.
In the men's long jump open, sophomore Demarcus Leak finished fourth at 6.92 meters and senior DeVantre Whitelow placed seventh with a mark of 6.73 meters. Leak also finished eighth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.96 meters.
In the men's 5000 meter run, senior David Madrigal finished sixth with a time of 14:25.75.
Junior Adeline Grier-Welch tied for eighth with a mark of 1.58 meters in the women's high jump.
The Spartans will wrap up the weekend in Hillsdale tomorrow, with events set to resume at 10 a.m. ET.
