ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Sophomore Alec Kandt competed in the Last Chance Meet at the University of Michigan on Sunday afternoon. Kandt tried to improve his time in the 100 breaststroke to qualify for the NCAA Championships later this month.
"He had one of the better swims of the meet," said head coach Matt Gianiodis. "We are happy but not satisfied with the results today. He has really put himself in a position to compete nationally and even internationally."
Kandt started the day winning the 100 breaststroke prelims with a time of 53.85. He also posted a time of 54.13 in the finals. Kandt set the school record in the event at the Big Ten Championships at 53.64.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday as they divers compete at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
