Spartan Divers Start Strong at NCAA Zone C Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Spartan divers had a strong first day at the NCAA Zone C Regionals. The day was highlighted by two divers advancing to the women's 3-meter finals.
"Maddie and Cristee did a good job today," said head diving coach Eric Best. "You have to dive well to even make it to the finals. I am really proud of everyone. Some of them are really battling with some tough injuries. I am really proud of the team today."
Senior Cristee Cordes recorded a score of 292.30 in the prelims. Cordes finished the finals with 558.80 points to finish in 17th place.
Sophomore Madeline Sewell advanced to the finals with a score of 298.05 in the women's 3-meter. In the finals, Sewell recorded a score of 259.3 to finish in 18th place at 557.35.
Senior Alison Menzies finished in 30th place with a score of 247.90. On the men's 1-meter, sophomore Brennan LaBar finished in 31st at 255.30 and junior Charles Maurer finished in 37th at 231.10.
The Spartans return to action on Friday at 1 p.m. from Columbus, Ohio. The women will compete on the 1-meter apparatus and the men will compete at the 3-meter apparatus.
