Spartans Start Strong at Big Ten Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The 2015 Big Ten Championships started Wednesday night for the men's swimming & diving team. The Spartans finished Wednesday night in ninth place with 32 points.
"We improved our best times for the year," said head coach Matt Gianiodis. "There is still a lot of swimming left this weekend. I feel good about our chances this week."
Michigan State started the evening in the 200 medley relay, where the Spartans came in ninth. The team of freshman Alex Trompke, sophomore Alec Kandt, junior Jacob Moore, and freshman Lachie McLeish finished at 1:29.26, dropping 1.05 from their best time of the season.
The Spartans took 10th place in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of sophomore Adam Marsh, Lachie McLeish, freshman Nick Leshok, and senior Kyle Workman touched the wall at 6:29.96, the fastest time of the year for Michigan State by 9.63 seconds.
The Spartans return to action tomorrow at 12 pm ET from the University of Iowa at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
