EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Soccer Teams were released today (Oct. 29), recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Spartan senior goalkeeper Gabrielle Gauruder was named to the First Team for NCAA Division I (District 5). The graduate student who specializes in special education posted the highest grade point average along with Tori Minnich of IUPUI, as both boast a 4.00 cumulative GPA. Gauruder was the lone goalkeeper selected for the first team.
As a first-team Academic All-District™ honoree, she will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third- team All-American honorees will be determined later this month.
The South Lyon native and Novi graduate has left her mark on the Spartan women's soccer program. Playing in 35 games while starting in 25, she started all 18 consecutive games in her final 2015 season. She also set single-game career highs in saves three times in the 2015 season, with her highest, nine, coming against Rutgers on Oct. 2.
She owns two single-season records in the MSU history books. She sits sixth in saves per game after notching 5.40 saves per game in 2013. This season she moved to tie seventh with a 0.79 goals against average.
Her memorable career has also left its mark in Spartan lore. She is 10th in all-time saves with 145. Gauruder is fifth in overall saves per game (4.53) and third for all-time goals against average (1.00).
Gauruder is the first MSU women's soccer player to receive this honor since Laura Heyboer and Jill Flietstra in 2011.
