Cartwright, Burt Named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State gymnastics senior Alina Cartwright and junior Lisa Burt have been selected as Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch for the 2015 season, as announced by the conference office. The Spartans have also been voted eighth in the Big Ten preseason coaches' poll.
Cartwright has been named to the Gymnasts to Watch list for the second straight season. In 2014, the Naperville, Ill. native was named First-Team All-Big Ten after placing in the top three in the all-around competition in seven meets, taking the title on three separate occasions. Cartwright earned an all-around career high of 39.375 at the B1G Quad Meet on March 15. Closing out the 2014 season at the NCAA Regional Championships, Cartwright tied for fifth in all-around competition with a score of 39.325.
Burt is on the list for the second time in three seasons. After coming off of a successful start, the Orange Port, Fla. native made a splash in 2014 competition. Burt placed in the top three in all-around competition in five meets, winning the crown three times. She continued on and represented the Spartans at the NCAA Regionals for the second-straight season, where she placed seventh overall in all-around competition.
The Spartans will host their Green and White Meet on Sunday, December 21st at 12 p.m. on the third floor practice gym at Jenison Fieldhouse. Meet the Spartans will take place on January 4th, before the team begins its regular season on the road at Bowling Green on January 10th.
