
Lachie McLeish Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State swimming and diving freshman Lachie McLeish has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The Melbourne, Australia, native earns the honor for the first time in his career after winning two individual races against Notre Dame this past weekend.
McLeish remained undefeated on the year in the 200 freestyle as he finished first in a time 1:40.05. He followed up with his second individual victory in the 100 freestyle recording a time of 46.21. McLeish finished the day helping the team take second in the 400 freestyle relay.
This is the first Michigan State men's swimming and diving weekly award since Bryan Williams was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 23, 2012, and first Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Hunter Bartlett on Dec. 13, 2011.
McLeish and the Spartans return to action on Friday as they travel to the TYR Northwestern Invite.
