
Buchholtz Earns Second Team Academic All-America Honor

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Becca Buchholtz has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America women's track & field/country second team.
Capital One Academic All-District honors are nominated and voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore standing both academically and athletically, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30.
A senior from East Troy, Wisconsin, who exhausted her eligibility this past spring at Michigan State, carried a 3.81 grade point average in General Management.
Buchholtz completed her tenure as a four-time Big Ten champion in the high jump and the school-record holder in the event at 1.83 meters (6 feet).
She has grand total of seven-career Big Ten Medals to her credit and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection during the 2012 indoor season, earning a gold medal at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.
Buchholtz was also an All-Big Ten Second Team selection after earning a silver medal at the outdoor championships in May.
Recently, Buchholtz earned a 2012 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and honorable mention All-American Honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In June, she was honored with CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Honors.
