PALMETTO, Fla. - Incoming Spartan gymnast Lisa Burt participated in the Junior Olympic Region 8 Gymnastic Championships last weekend and won the Senior C division. The Port Orange, Fla. native competed in every event and was the top gymnast with an all-around score of 38.625.
Burt took home first place on the uneven bars (9.650), beam (9.500) and floor exercise (9.750) on her way to becoming the all around champion. The Spruce Creek High School senior also placed second on the vault with a score of 9.725. Burt's age of 17 put her in the Senior C division, but her score topped all Level 10 gymnasts regardless of age. A member of ACE Gymnastics, Burt will now participate in the Junior Olympic National Championships May 11-12th in Hampton, Va.
Burt signed a National Letter of Intent to Michigan State last November and will attend MSU next fall to compete in the 2012-2013 season.
