EAST LANSING, Mich.- In its final day of action at the Spartan Invitational, the Michigan State women's tennis team recorded a weekend-best five singles victories. Freshman Hilary Hager tallied three back-to-back singles wins over the past three days in Draw C Singles. Hager went 3-1 in singles play this weekend.
On Sunday, two MSU singles victories were recorded by junior Amy Barton and sophomore Olga Chernova in the Draw A singles. Barton bounced back to drop Henestrosa of IPFW, 1-6, 6-2, 10-4. Chernova rebounded and defeated Villajuan of Louisville, 6-3, 7-6 (3). In Singles Draw B, sophomore Katarina Lingl defeated Forsyth of IPFW, 6-3, 6-1.
In Draw C Singles, Hager dropped Duncan of Louisville in a close match. She was able to capture a 6-7 (4), 7-6 (8), 10-8 victory. Sophomore Jennifer Yen fell to Tachovsky of Louisville, 6-3, 6-1.
In Draw A Doubles, redshirt junior Dana Guentert and Chernova fell to Radan and Hush of Marquette, 8-5.
The Spartans travel to Northwestern next weekend to compete in the Wildcat Invitation from Sept. 30th - Oct. 2nd.
