
Men's Tennis Recognized as ITA All-Academic Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as one of 71 teams to receive ITA All-Academic Team honors. This marks the fifth occasion the Spartans have been honored by the ITA and is also the fourth straight year for the accolade. To be eligible, a team must compile a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above in the current academic year. Individually, MSU saw four student-athletes receive ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
Freshman Aaron Pfister (Grand Blanc, Mich.), sophomore Christian Roehmer (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) and seniors Clark Richardson (Leawood, Kan.) and John Stratton (Monroeville, N.J.) all earned individual recognition.
Student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.50 grade-point average in the current academic year and be listed as a letterwinner for the corresponding season.
Pfister led the team during the dual season, posting a 20-3 singles record to improve his overall line to 30-6. He started at No. 5 singles with a 9-0 record before moving his way up into the No. 2 slot for the Big Ten Tournament.
Rohemer finished the season with a 9-2 slate. He also saw some time in the doubles lineup, as he netted six additional wins.. This is Rohemer's second time as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Richardson was a doubles specialist for MSU this season, posting a record of 12-8. He saw limited time in the singles lineup; however he compiled eight wins throughout the year. This marks Richardson's third ITA Scholar-Athlete honor.
Stratton ended the dual season with 14 singles wins, 11 of which occurred at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, and the other at No. 2. Stratton also tallied 14 doubles wins during the spring. 12 of his doubles victories were at No. 1, while the others were at No. 2 doubles. For Stratton, this marks his fourth occurrence on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list.
