
Women's Tennis Blanks Bowling Green, 7-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State Women's Tennis team routed Bowling Green State University, 7-0, to capture its third non-conference win of the year. The Spartans captured the double's point for the fourth straight match. They also swept all of the singles points for their third 7-0 victory.
In singles play, sophomore Amy Barton improved to 4-0 on the season with a hard earned 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Christine Chiricosta. Freshman Valentina Rusakova dropped Mary Hill, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Marina Bohrer also picked up a win over Nikki Chiricosta, 6-3, 6-3. Dana Guentert edged Maddy Eccleston, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (7). Sophomore Michaela Silesova downed Jessica Easdale, 6-2, 6-4.
Barton and Bohrer recorded their fourth doubles victory against C. Chiricosta and Eccleston, 8-1. Partners Wilson and Silesova battled hard to pull out a 8-6 win over N. Chiricosta and Reuland, 8-6. Freshman Katarina Lingl and sophomore Nicole Herzog defeated Grubb and Hill, 8-5.
The Spartans return back to the court on Sunday, Feb. 6th when they welcome Eastern Michigan at 3 p.m. The match will take place at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
