Women's Tennis Ends Competition at ITA Regionals

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Michigan State women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA Second Chance Regional tournament. The Spartans had one player win their bracket when sophomore Katarina Lingl captured the Singles Black bracket.
Lingl posted an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win over Pacheco of NIU to win the Singles Black bracket, her first bracket win of her career. Julianne Gruber battled it out with Gruber from Wisconsin in the finals round of the Singles Red bracket. The freshman fell to her opponent 5-7, 7-5 (8). Freshman Hilary Hager fell in her match to Alec of Western Michigan, 6-3, 6-2 in the NIU Bracket. Junior Nicole Herzog notched a singles victory in Singles Guillikson, defeated Colarossi of Milwaukee, 6-3, 6-3.
The Spartans fell short in posting a doubles victory. In the Huskie Doubles Draw final, Lingl and Gruber dropped their match to Pastunink and Shusrova of Western Michigan, 8-4. The duo of Silesova and Herzog also fell in their doubles match, 8-3, to Ganser and Kemp of Milwaukee.
The Spartans return to action the weekend of Nov. 4-6th when they host the Green and White invite.
