
Track & Field Receives Post-Season Big Ten Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - As announced by the Big Ten office today (May 19), junior Kyron Foster and sophomore Becca Buchholtz have been named to the First-Team All-Big Ten list, while juniors Charelise Davis and Emily MacLeod have both earned second-team distinction.
For the second time this season, Kyron Foster has earned first-team honors in the triple jump. Foster posted a leap of 15.69m in the triple jump in his first competition of the outdoor season.
Foster also earned top honors in the indoor season with a leap of 15.59m as the top-seeded jumper in the championships. Foster then went on to become the first triple jumper in school history to earn All-America honors when he posted a school-record distance of 16.21m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Becca Buchholtz has earned first-team honors for the second time in as many years. Buchholtz placed first in the high jump event at the outdoor championships with a personal-best height of 1.80m.
Buchholtz first posted first-team honors during the indoor season freshman year when she became the first freshman to win an individual title in school history. Buchholtz posted a height of 1.79m in the high jump to win the event.
Charelise Davis earns All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career. The second-team honoree placed second in the 200m dash when she clocked in at 23.78. Davis lived up to her expectations as she entered the race as the second-best runner in the event.
Emily MacLeod has earned All-Big ten honors in track for the first time in her career, following her first-team honors in cross country earlier this season. MacLeod earned second-team honors when defeated several All-Americans on her way to a second place showing in the 5,000m run with a time of 16:16.74. MacLeod entered the championships as the fourth-best runner in the race.
Also, earning the Big Ten Sportsmanship Awards for the Spartans were Davis and classmate Shane Wells. Davis and Wells were chosen as individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior both on and off the track.
After a weekend off from competition, the Spartans will return to action when they travel to the NCAA Regional Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Action begins on Thursday, May 27 and concludes on Saturday, May 29.
