Men's Golf Concludes Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Seventh

PINEHURST, N.C. - Wrapping up its first stroke play tournament of the spring, the Michigan State men's golf team placed seventh in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Sunday, posting a three-day score of 31-over par 895 (292-303-300). Senior Jack Newman and sophomore Chris Mory led the Spartans this weekend, both tying for 11th overall at 5-over par 221.
Newman (71-78-72) posted three birdies and an eagle in his even par round today, while Mory (763-72-76) ended the tournament with a team-high 10 birdies, including three today. Freshman James Ross moved up the leaderboard today, finishing in a tie for 43rd at 12-over 228 (74-80-74). Freshman Matthew Moseley, with a 13-over 229 (74-77-78), tied for 51st and sophomore Dan Ellis, with a 23-over 239 (85-76-78), placed 79th.
Virginia Tech came from behind today to win the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, carding a 12-over par 876 (290-292-294). UNC-Greensboro's Robert Hoadley took the individual crown with a 3-under par 213 (70-72-71).
