
Track & Field Concludes Action at Meyo Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Michigan State track & field team resumed action at the Meyo Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 6. In the final day of competition, Erica Mann finished tied for fourth in the 60m dash finals, tying her personal-best with a time of 7.56. In the Ryan Shay men's 3000m run, Spencer Beatty placed third overall with a time of 8:06.85, smashing his personal-best time by 11.22 seconds.
In the men's weight throw, Lonnie Pugh placed seventh while Jay Gillespie finished eighth. Pugh recorded a personal-best toss of 18.03m to top Gillespie's throw of 17.81m.
Logan Lynch placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 5.05m, while Ashley Smith was tied for seventh in the women's pole vault with a leap of 3.85m.
Becca Buchholtz posted a tie for seventh in the high jump for the Spartans with her jump of 1.70m.
In the finals of the 60m hurdles, Shane Wells finished seventh with a time of 8.06.
Wells continued his success in the 200m dash when he placed fifth with a time of 21.80. Brandon VanDriel finished just behind Wells in seventh with a time of 21.93.
Charelise Davis placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.40
Ashley Lawrence tossed a distance of 14.67m in the shot put, placing eighth in the event.
MSU is back in action next week at the GVSU Big Meet on the campus of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. Competition gets underway on Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:50 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, and continues on Saturday, Feb. 13, 9:30 a.m. with the men's heptathlon.
