EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State gymnastics team held its annual Green & White meet on Friday, Dec. 10 in Jenison Field House. The Green team topped the White team by a score of 115.075 to 105.625.
"I was really pleased with the way the team performed today," said head coach Kathie Klages. "I think that by getting out in front of judges in so crucial, and having fans here to cheer them on. Performing in front of fans is so different, and we try to duplicate that in practice as much as we can, but nothing is like the real thing."
The Spartans opened the competition on the vault. Leading the way with the top individual score of Nicole Argiros with a 9.8 mark. Alyssa Brennan followed in second (9.75) while Kathryn Mahoney was third (9.625).
On the bars, MSU saw Mahoney lead the way with her top score of 9.75. Jackie Berg was second with a score of 9.725 and Daneen Haba was third with a 9.7 mark.
Mahoney once again was the top gymnast for the Spartans as she recorded a mark of 9.75 on the beam. Alex Pace placed second with a 9.675 total and Taira Neal was third with a 9.625 mark.

"I think the team can take away that they performed well for the season," said Klages. "We do have a lot of room for improvement. We also have some injuries that we are working with, but I think by January 7, we will be ready."
MSU opens the regular season on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 when it hosts Iowa, Michigan and Western Michigan in Jenison Field House. Action is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
