Women's Tennis Wraps Up Third Day of ITA Play

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team completed its third day of competition in two separate ITA Regional Tournaments. Overall, the team tallied two singles wins and one doubles victory.
In Ann Arbor, Mich. at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Tournament, senior Whitney Wilson defeated Anya Baronayte of Akron, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Marina Borher lost in her singles match, 7-6, 6-3. Wilson and Bohrer were also defeated in doubles play by Abu Mushrefova and Hamilton of Northwestern in a close match that ended with a score of 9-7.
At the ITA Second Chance Tournament hosted by Western Michigan, freshman Katarina Lingl tallied MSU's only single victory in Kalamazoo when she topped Sammi Schoen from Western Michigan, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. Sophomore Michaela Silesova lost in her singles match when she was topped by Maria Kovaleave from the University of Illinois at Chicago, 6-0, 6-1.
Lingl and red-shirt sophomore Dana Guentert were able to post an 8-6 doubles victory over Christine Chiricosta and Eccleston of Bowling Green, giving MSU its only doubles win of the day.
Both Bohrer and Wilson were knocked out of the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Tournament, but play will continue on for the Spartans tomorrow at the ITA Second Chance Tournament. Please visit www.msuspartans.com for daily results.
