Wilson Represents Spartans in First Day of ITA Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Senior Whitney Wilson opened action for the Michigan State women's tennis team in the singles qualifying round of the USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals. Wilson posted a victory in her only match of the day.
Seeded in the 5-8 positions, Wilson automatically advanced to the next round to face Catarina Keifer from IPFW. She won both sets 7-6 to earn a spot in the next round. Tomorrow she will face off against Margarita Sadovnikova of Youngstown State.
Wilson will also take part in doubles action tomorrow with partner freshman Marina Bohrer. The duo, who have posted five victories so far this fall season, will take on Jeremie Benjamin and Carolina Castro Cota of Akron.
The Spartans will also be represented in the ITA Second Chance tournament which is hosted by Western Michigan. Freshman Katarina Lingl, red-shirt sophomore Dana Guentert and sophomore Michaela Silesova will compete in the tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich. which begins Friday, Oct. 22.
