EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State swimming & diving team will host its 55th annual Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 16 at McCaffree Pool at IM West. Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The Alumni Meet is the second-longest event on campus homecoming weekend, second to only the MSU football game.
The meet is a tradition that began under former head coach Charles McCaffree and the Seibold family in 1955, and has continued on without pause every homecoming.
The Spartans kicked off the 2010-11 season last weekend when they hosted the women Golden Gophers in the first dual of the season. The MSU divers started the season strong against Minnesota as junior Sarah Clay posted an NCAA qualifying mark of 317.03 in the three-meter dive as she won the event. Clay was joined by seniors Jordan Jackson and Sarah Mory on the one-meter dive with qualifying standards. Jackson placed second with a score of 276.60 while Mory was third with a 273.81 mark. Clay also recorded a qualifying score of 268.80.
MSU returns to action on Friday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Iowa at McCaffree Pool at IM West at 5 p.m.
