Jack Newman Named to PING All-Midwest Region Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rising senior Jack Newman was recently named to the 2008-09 PING All-Midwest Region Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Newman earned regional recognition for the first time in his career and marks the fifth straight season a Spartan has been honored. In all, Newman is the 10th MSU golfer to be named PING All-Midwest Region.
Newman, who was also a Second Team All-Big Ten selection, led the Spartans with a 72.87 stroke average this season, which was fourth in the program's single-season laurels. In this year's 12 stroke play events, he had four top-five finishes, including a share of medalist honors at the Spartan Classic, in addition to six top-10 and nine top-20 showings. The first Michigan State golfer to compete in the Masters, Newman holds a career stroke average of 74.15, which is fourth all-time. He has three career individual titles and eight top-five placements in his three years in green and white.
