Spartan Swimming and Diving Announces 2009-10 Schedule

Michigan State swimming and diving head coach Matt Gianiodis announced the Spartans' 2009-10 schedule this week.
"It is another competitive schedule for our entire team," said Gianiodis. "I am very excited with the opportunities it brings. I think from early December through the Big Ten Championships our teams will be challenged quite a bit."
After hosting eight dual meets last season, the Spartans will host just four in 2009-10. The women's team will host Illinois (Oct. 16) and Ohio State (Jan. 22, 2010) while the men and the women will take on Oakland (Jan. 30) and St. Bonaventure (Feb. 5) at home.
The Spartans will also have the opportunity to compete at the U.S. Short Course Nationals on Dec. 3-6.
"Taking a group to the US Short Course Nationals in Washington gives our kids a chance for exposure at the highest level," said Gianiodis.
The women's team opens the season Oct. 16 at home against Illinois. The men's team opens Oct. 23 at Iowa.
