EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore diver Sarah Clay was named Big Ten Diver of the Week by the conference office this week. Clay dominated the diving events in Michigan State's dual meet against Illinois last week, recording two career highs to go along with a pair of NCAA Regional Qualifying scores on both the one- and three-meter boards. The Fishers, Ind., native posted a 333.45 on the three-meter platform to claim top honors in the event, and supplemented that performance with a 308.55 mark in the one-meter competition to earn runner-up honors, finishing second only to teammate Kayla Kalmbach (309.90).
The award was the first for Clay while Danielle Williams was the last Spartan to earn conference Diver of the Week honors on Dec. 16, 2008.
