Nicole Bush Named Big Ten Runner of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Nicole Bush was named Big Ten Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 16 by the conference office. Bush garnered the award after finishing first at the Spartan Invitational on Friday at the Forest Akers East Golf Course. The 2007 Cross Country All-American ran a 21:12 on the 6,000-meter course, finishing 25 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. This is the second-straight year Bush has won the Spartan Invitational and this is the first weekly conference honor in her career.
Bush is the Spartans top returning runner this season after recording the best finish in school history at the NCAA Championships, placing fifth with a time of 20:13.4. As a team, the Spartans also took fifth place.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when the travel to Williamsburg, Va., to compete in the William & Mary Inter-Regional Invitational.
