EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU baseball seniors Eric Roof, AJ Dunn and Nolan Moody have been elected team captains for the 2009 season, head coach Jake Boss announced on Monday (Nov. 3).
"All three are tremendous leaders," Boss said. "It's an honor for them to be elected by their teammates. All three will be looked to heavily, on and off the field, to contribute to the success we are going to have this spring."
Roof, who started 37 games in 2008, hit .308 and was second on the team in RBIs with 33.
"Traditionally, you want your catcher to be your leader. He does a tremendous job of being our field general, if you will, and running our ball club," said Boss.
Moody, an East Lansing native, made 25 appearances for the Green and White last year and recorded four saves. Dunn, who hails from Grand Ledge, appeared in 17 games last year.
"Having two leaders on the pitching staff, especially being local guys, is a really neat thing because they are life-long Spartans," said Boss.
