EAST LANSING, Mich. - Both the MSU men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned College Swimming Coaches of Association of America (CSCAA) Academic All-America accolades this week.
"I am really proud of the team and when you take into account what many of them are majoring in, it really is great. Our academic advisor Jeremy Flynn deserves a lot of the credit for this, he works so hard for our team," said head coach Matt Gianiodis.
The men's team had the 18th-highest team GPA in the nation (3.168) and the highest of all Big Ten teams. The women's team's GPA ranked 45th in the nation (3.255) and third highest in the Big Ten.
Last season, 21 Spartans earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, bringing the total number of swimmers and divers to garner this honor under Gianiodis' tenure to 111.
