EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior diver Danielle Williams was named Big Ten Diver of the Week by the conference offices on Tuesday. Williams garnered the award after winning the one meter and three-meter dives in a dual meet vs. Minnesota last weekend. Her scores of 286.58 on the three-meter board and a 288.52 on the one-meter board both exceed NCAA qualifying standards.
The award is Williams' third-career conference Diver of the Week honor as she last garnered the accolade Dec. 11, 2007. This past summer, the Dorchester, Ontario, native placed seventh at the Canadian Olympic Trials.
The Spartans' women's swimming and diving team will travel to Illinois on Thursday and Friday (Oct. 16 and 17) for a two-day dual meet with the Illini.
