Women's Tennis Owns Day One Of Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Spartan women's tennis dominated day one action of its Spartan Invitational winning all but one singles match and all four doubles matches. In the eight-flight tournament, Michigan State went 21-1 in single and 4-0 in doubles.
"Obviously Coach Naughton and I were pleased with today's results; however, what really stood out today was the energy and poise with which we competed," said head coach Erica Perkins. "Stephanie Kebler fought off a few match points to come back to win a big match in flight two, which was great to see. I was also really happy for Lindsey Lonergan and Kathryn Bonnen, who picked up their first wins as Spartans. I am looking forward to tomorrow's matches; our goal is to continue to improve."
Manon Noe picked up her fourth and fifth wins on the season as did Ana Milosavljevic; both are now 5-1. Christine Bader, Kebler and Whitney Wilson also earned two wins and improve to 4-1 while Michelle Murphy increased her singles record to 3-2. Marianna Eelens and Christine Milliken also tallied a pair of wins and are 2-0 this year. Additionally, Lonergan and Bonnen earned their first wins in the Green and White.
In doubles, each Spartan duo, none of which had played together before this season, won each match.
The Spartans will continue action all day tomorrow with doubles matches beginning at 8 a.m. on MSU's outdoor courts.
