
Brehm Helps Team USA Into Sixth Place After Day Two

BANGKOK, Thailand - Michigan State's senior golfer Ryan Brehm (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) helped place Team USA at sixth with a team two-day total of 438 at the 2007 Summer World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Brehm shoot a 74 in round two for a combined score of 172 and is currently tied for fourth on the individual results board at the Water Mill Golf and Gardens course.
The U.S. men were paced by Aaron Goldberg (Encinitas, Calif./San Diego State) in the second round, as he finished with an even par 72 for a two-day total of 142 and is tied for fourth with Brehm. Braxton Marquez (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale C.C.) improved, shooting a second-round 76 for a two-day 154 (T44th).
Japan holds on to the men's team lead with a score of 429, while Great Britain and Ireland share the lead in the women's field at 302.
The U.S. men will tee off for round three beginning at 11:40 a.m. from the first hole with Korea and Chinese Taipei.

The 2007 Summer World University Games run from August 8-18. Team USA consists of 144 athletes - 68 women and 76 men. Overall, more than 140 countries are participating, and nearly 8,000 athletes competing. The World University Games or Universiade, which include both summer and winter versions, are held every two years for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 28. Eligible athletes must be registered for a full course of study at a university or have obtained their degrees within a year of the Games. The World University Games, sponsored by FISU, the International University Sport Federation, bring together top collegiate athletes from around the world for 11 days of competition in a multi-sport Olympic-style event. The U.S. entered the Summer World University Games for the first time in 1965 and hosted the 1993 Games in Buffalo, N.Y.
