Women's Tennis Closes Out Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - Michigan State women's tennis finished play Sunday at the Wildcat Invitational, as Whitney Wilson and Ana Milosavljevic battled in the flight B's doubles championship match. MSU's duo dropped the final match to DePaul's Selma Salkovic and Bojana Murisic 8-5, going 2-1 over the weekend in doubles action.
MSU's other doubles teams played through consolation, where Stephanie Kebler and Christine Milliken as well as Manon Noe and Lindsey Lonergan picked up wins.
Michelle Murphy, Wilson and Lonergan advanced to the second round in their respective singles draws, Lonergan in flight B and Murphy and Wilson in flight C, but each fell in the quarterfinal matches. Continuing play in consolation matches, Noe earned two consolation wins in flight A, besting William and Mary's Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and Minnesota's Alessandra Ferrazzi. Also in the top flight, Kebler went 2-1 in consolation, earning her wins against Ole Miss' Nika Koukhartchouk, 6-4, 6-1, and Wisconsin's Jessica Seyferth 6-7(3), 6-4, 2-3 (ret.).
In the flight C consolation, Murphy added a flight C win, defeating Mariana Spilca 6-1, 6-3, while Milosavljevic also posted two victories. First Milosavljevic defeated Alejandra Boeker from Purdue, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, then Jackie Sperling from Minnesota, 6-0, 6-0.
The Spartans wrap up fall tennis action at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship hosted by Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., Oct. 18-23.
