EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior Christine Bader and senior Sarah Andrews have been selected to represent the women's tennis team at the pre-qualifying doubles draw of the 2006 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. The pre-qualifying round will be held at UCLA from Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Eight doubles teams from the pre-qualifying round and 24-at large selections will play in the qualifying round held Oct. 3-4 at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Four pairs from the qualifying round will advance to the main draw on Oct. 5-8 in addition to 12 at-large main draw selections.
Bader and Andrews were selected to compete in the tournament based on preseason ITA national ranking and ITA National Tournament Committee recommendations. The duo paired up last spring at No. 1 doubles to compile a 10-13 record. Bader has also been named an alternate for the pre-qualifying round in singles. A 2006 All-Big Ten First Team member, Bader paced the Spartans last season at No. 1 singles with a 13-10 record.
