OHIO STATE BUCKEYES: The No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes are currently 18-1 overall and hold an undefeated record in the Big Ten, winning all six of their conference battles thus far. The Buckeyes have defeated Big Ten opponents Penn State, 5-2, Indiana, 6-0, Illinois, 5-2, Purdue, 7-0, Minnesota, 5-2, and Iowa, 7-0. Ohio State is led by Bryan Koniecko, who is ranked No. 49 in the nation, along with No. 76 Chris Klingemann and No. 83 Devin Mullings. Koniekco holds a 17-11 record in singles while Klingemann's record is 18-6 and Mullings is at 20-9. The Buckeyes are coached by Ty Tucker, who is in his 7th season. Michigan State leads the series, 38-33.
LAST TIME OUT: The Michigan State men's tennis team had a tough weekend on the road, falling to both Illinois, Saturday, April 8, and Purdue, Sunday, April 9. The Spartans dropped a 5-2 decision to the Fighting Illini, with their two victories coming from No. 117 sophomore Nick Rinks and freshman Scott Rasmussen. Rinks upset No. 64 G.D. Jones, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 10-5 at No. 1 singles. MSU then traveled to West Lafayette, Ind. to face the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue edged the Spartans, winning four of the singles match-ups. Rinks earned another victory, at No. 1 singles, when he knocked off Scott Warner, 7-5, 6-3.Freshman John Allare was also victorious for MSU, defeating Eric Hodgman, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
